An expert in analyzing and preventing oil field disasters, Erin Neal is sent by Homeland Security to the Saudi desert to study a new oil-eating bacteria that is quickly spreading and threatening the world's petroleum reserves. As the threat escalates, Erin realizes that there's something eerily familiar about the bacteria, and that it couldn't possibly have evolved on its own.
