Murad was young when his uncle was kidnapped and executed. He was not a criminal and had no criminal record. All he left behind was a carton full of books. He read it all to discover that his uncle was a member of a revolutionary movement that wanted to overturn the scales of the class struggle. He tried to continue his uncle's path in his own way, to move to the nobility without a party, secret publications, or demonstrations. He stopped studying and started smoking hashish and committing armed robbery with the two sons of his destitute neighborhood, Abd al-Rahman and Rashid, with whom he formed a gang that fought bloody conflicts with other gangs in their miserable neighborhood... In the end, however, the thistle tree only produces thistles.
