With her signature twist of mystery and romance, Andrews (The Santa Suit) tells the story of Hattie Kavanaugh, a young widow who went into business as a contractor with her father-in-law, Tug, in historic Savannah. After making the mistake of choosing a house that becomes more than she can handle, Hattie gets talked into working on a home improvement reality show to recoup her losses. Between contemplating a possible romance with her costar and other suitors, finding the body of her former teacher at the renovation site, and trying to identify and avoid the murderer herself, Hattie has a rough road to travel. Versatile voice actress Kathleen McInerney brings warmth and vivacity to her narration and creates individual voices for each of the book's characters. McInerney's depiction of Hattie is especially skillful, so that listeners will feel privy to all her thoughts and concerns. VERDICT Recommend to fans of light romance and mystery or anyone looking for a fun beach read.--Cheryl Youse
