A questioning stranger persuades the inhabitants of Sugarmilk Falls, an isolated Northern Ontario town, to talk openly for the first time about the sinister events of the town's past. As different versions of what really happened are disclosed and gossip turns to fear and blame, more questions are raised about what would happen to the town if the truth were ever told.
